What I liked

The A5 ward, I was treated well and recieved great care from both the surgeons I saw and the nurses that looked after me.

The male staff nurse on the Endoscopy ward, he was really friendly and made me feel a lot better about being shoved in that portacabin. He also spent a lot of time on the phone chasing up my scans and checking appointment times for me, seeing as no one else bothered to tell me if and when I would be getting them.

What could be improved

A lot.

I went in with severe back pain and lower right abdominal pain that has been progressing over the past few months. It got to the point where I was doubled over in pain, wasn't eating and felt extremely nauseous.

After a week of tests; Hip and back x-ray, abdominal ultrasound and a kidney CT scan. Everything came back normal. Except for blood and an elevated level of leucocytes in my urine... Which nobody explained to me?

I was in A5 and receiving great care from the nurses and was seen regularly by a lovely member of the surgical staff and was put on a drip. However, I was then moved into the Endoscopy department, which is a day ward ony, and was completely forgotten about and later sent home with five packets of painkillers for joint and muscle pain. The surgeon I saw in that ward would not listen to me and treated me like I was an idiot. She said she would send one of the Orthopedic team down to have a look at me but never did. The ward was pretty much ran by agency nurses who often forgot to bring round the meds and didn't know any of our names.

I have been re-admitted to Warrington Hospital since and have had to see my GP twice in the past week with further problems, completely disregarding this so called 'muscle pain'. Unfortunately, however, I am still somewhat of a 'mystery'!

Anything else?

I have to go back as an outpatient to the Endoscopy Department to have a Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and a Colonoscopy/Sigmoidoscopy. I also had to be referred to GYN Specialist.
