"Wait time two weeks from urgent diagnosis"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

I fractured a bone in my hand in three places. It took 3.5 hours to be seen my a young over-stressed and non-specialist doctor. I was given a thin plaster to tape two fingers together and told to go home and wait. The phonecall reveals I have two weeks' wait to see the fracture clinic. The bone will have begun healing by then. Why on earth do I pay my national insurance contributions?
