"psychiatrict intensive care unit left me in attempted suicide"

About: Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust / Psychiatric intensive care

(as the patient),

On two occassions at Maranda House I placed a ligature around my neck and staff failed to remove the ligatues and left me to pass out or go unconscious while watching laughing and mocking me as I lay on the toilet floor finding it difficult to breathe.

I was left totally unobserved at one point as I had blocked the view to the seclusion room.

The picu was severely understaffed and made it a dangerous environment with patients needs going unmet daily.

Thanks very much for posting and bringing your experience to our attention. We are really concerned to hear your comments about the care on the unit. We hope you are okay and receiving the support you need.

We do take the safety of people in our care extremely seriously and everything that is brought to our attention is logged and fully investigated. We are not aware of this incident and so we would therefore urge you to tell us about it directly, so we can take the appropriate action. To talk to us about what you’ve described on here and your other worries about staffing and safety, you can speak to one of our PALS team on pals@humber.nhs.uk or by phone on 01482 303966.
