"Michael's death"

(as a relative),

My husband went in for a hip replacement 22mths ago. He came back to the ward at 7pm and was in pain being sick and very drowsy, when I stayed with him. Left him about 8.30pm, worried, but my daughter said 'he is in good hands'. How wrong she was. Had a garbled phone call at 2.15am in the morning, telling me about what had happened, which I now think was a pack of lies. Rushed up with my son and daughter to the hospital all of us absolutely distraught.

When a report was carried out it was proved to be 'clinical negligence' and I have lost a wonderful man. The nurse involved had no suspension, and was sent on two retraining programmes and monitored for a year. I have now been told that they feel 'she is of no further risk to patients'. All we have had is how sorry they are, and condolences. I can never forgive them.
