Although I had to wait a few months for a triple bypass after my heart attack, the preoperative education classes were great and helped to put my mind at rest. From preliminary tests and investigations through surgery and intensive care and rehabilitation I could not find any fault. I had my heart attack in Manchester whilst visiting my daughter, was admitted into Salford Hospital (previously known as Hope), I had to wait nearly two weeks in there, before being transported by ambulance to Wythenshawe where I had an angiogram and returned back to Salford hospital same day. I was discharged from Salford after 3 more days, and told that my GP would make further arrangements. It was almost 3 months before I got an appointment at Northern General, but after the initial interview things really moved a pace. There was a slightly higher risk for me because I have only one kidney, after having had kidney cancer, and the remaining one was not performing 100%. I even saw a renal consultant before my surgery, who again put my mind at rest with what he said would be done in surgery to protect my one kidney. I am not given to handing out compliments willy nilly, and if there had been any reason to complain I would certainly have done so, there was non. Although I live in North Nottinghamshire and ever needed hospitalisation again, Northern general would be my first choice!
"An excellent hospital in all aspects for cardiac..."
