"My experience of surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary "

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 64, 65, 66,& 67)

(as the patient),

In April 2014, I was admitted to Ward 66 of the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, under the care of Professor Paul Horgan for a sigmoid polypectomy. This was carried out the following day after which I was admitted to the HDU where I remained for several days. I was subsequently transferred to the Enhanced Recovery Unit where I remained until my discharge after a stay of some two weeks or so.

The treatment, patience, compassion and kindness shown to me by all the staff was outstanding. I was absolutely amazed at their dedication to their duties to me and the other patients in the wards who were also of the same opinion as me.

Criticism of the NHS is all too frequent but little is heard of the outstanding service the NHS provides to its patients.
