my son had a quadruple by pass ,he got an infection which delayed his departure .after infection was found it was over 24 hrs before he was given antibiotics ,he got home on wed 14th May but had to go back on sunday 18th May. on the 19th of May he was fitted with a wound vac something I have never heard about .it was checked on Thurs 22nd May and found to be doing great on Friday 23rd May he was allowed home but had to go back to Hull on Sunday25th May for it to be changed .It is a round trip of 120 miles for a ten minute dressing change .we were told north Yorkshire wouldn,t pay for a district nurse to change it ,this we found out was when a blatent lie as we found out when district nurse called to see how he was and couldn't understand why he had to such a long way when she could have done it at home for him ,apart from the long journey it has cost a fortune in petrol costs, she has told me to complain to the hospital about it , she did ring the hospital for an explanation as to why we had been lied to .I am so upset with the whole thing .My husband has lung cancer and the extra worry was something we could have done without .to be lied to by the hospital was outrageous anne s
