About: Northern General Hospital

My post-operative care was accomplished with great skill and dedication, and although I wasn't able observe the operation, I am quite sure that had similar levels of expertise and skill For most of my life, I have had poor gag reflex, and I sometimes have difficulty swallowing pills without choking, so it has to be a rather dreary long-winded procedure with a patient nurse standing by. Subsequently, there was a problem with being bloated, and there was the thought that air or fluid might be released from my abdomen by some means or other. In great innocence, I was led into an anti-room where a nurse approached me with a plastic tube, and proceeded to feed it down my left nostril. Although I was struggling, I did my best to comply withy her instructions, which were to twist my head so that presumably, the tube could go down my throat. Unfortunately it went past my larynx and headed for my trachea while I was retching and clawing at my throat. No doubt the nurses efforts where well-intentioned, but I consequently became very much more fearful of trying to swallow any more pills, and it became quite a performance, cutting them up, or chewing them (Augmentin revolting, Senecot unimaginable!). Hence the title 99.9%. All the rest wonderful. I don't anticipate coming in for another op any time soon, but the best of luck to a very good team.
