What I liked
were the few members of staff on Ward 30,who actually showed compassion and care, the rest of the staff have a lot to learn and should think about the profession they are in.
What could be improved
The staffs attitude to patients had alot to be desired. I had numerous visits between Nov 08 and Jan 09 and can say hand on heart that it is not a place i would visit freely again. Also the cleanleness on the wards had a lot to answer to, this is not due to the lack of care of the domestic staff it is yet again due to lack of care by nursing staff. Urine samples were left for over 48hrs on one occassion in one of the ward toilets, leaving 12 bowls unattended to even though staff had been informed.
Anything else?
A patient should never have to justify to a member of nursing staff why they think they need pain relief when it has been written up by a doctor or consultant. Having to beg for pain relief is both embarassing and degrading at 4.30am, whilst walking corridors in pain.
"were the few members of staff ..."
