"Orthopaedic and fracture clinic"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Had a back problem in jan 2013 waited 5 and half month to see a back specialist . In the mean time my employer paid for a MRI scan I got to see this back specialist who was very nasty when I asked should I be at work they told me 90 present of the population had what I had I asked again was it wise for me to return to work while I was waiting for a injection they said they would do . Because I asked this question they asked me was I questioning them and if so they would take me off the list and I could go else wear I sobbed and came out very upset . In June 2013 I received my injection this specialist was very nice it was a Sunday morning and I looked back and thought well they must have just had a bad day I thanked them for what they had done and left very happy they told me they would see me in clinic six wks later . My injection worked I had three month worth very little pain . In October 2013 my pain was returning I had returns to work in the June so I rang their office someone told me no appointment had been made for me to see them in near future my doctor had to get in touch I was in agony I did get appointment for February 2014 crawled in they asked if pain was much better I told them it was worst and could I have operation they were very abrupt and just said no if injection had not worked nothing they could do they have taken me off their list and referred me to a pain clinic but two month waiting list . I am now in the process of losing my job and my life is not worth living I am 52 yrs of age and never been out of work payed my ni and work for NHS and feel as if I have been put on the scrap heap this person should get some training in people skills I will be taking this further and would never use city of sunderland hospital again

Thank you for leaving this feedback. We are sorry that the level of care you received from the Orthopaedic team did not meet our usual high standards. We would obviously like to look into the issues you have raised and in order to do so would need to obtain some further details from you. If you would like us to do this, please contact the PALS team by email@ pals@chs.northy.nhs.uk.
