"I think my outpatients appointments could be streamlined"

About: Trafford General Hospital / Pain Management

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I've been going for ongoing back treatment at the Pain Clinic. I have steroid injections every six months with recall every 6 weeks to check up on how it's gone. When I go for the treatment, I'm admitted, put in a gown and wheeled to theatre, when what I want them to do is lift my clothes and just give me the injection. I feel that I'm spending too much time there and it makes me think that the hospital must be getting too much money for admitting me as a patient. I feel like a fraud and it's been frustrating over the years.

My sister in East Lancashire has the same back treatment as me, but she's seen as an out-patient. She goes for her appointment, gets the injection and is out. It's very efficient. This has been going on for 20 years.

I've written to PALS about it and they acknowledged it but nothing happened and they didn't get back to me to tell me why nothing had happened.

Now the doctor who I used to see has retired and the new doctor is not following the same procedure in my treatment. She's very nice but the treatment this last time hasn't been successful.
