"Respectful and thorough care of the elderly"

My mother in law was 93 and of very sound mind. She had breathing problems which were difficult to diagnose even after a range of tests. The team of doctors from different departments liaised and reported back to us comprehensively at every point. At no time did her age come into it. She was treated with as much care and respect as you would expect for a young patient. She was admitted for a week and enjoyed the company of all the staff caring for her as they took the time to have a chat when they could. The doctors involved even phoned us at home to check on her progress and make sure she was adequately supported. My mother in law died after a brain haemorrhage recently. Due to the nature of the emergency she was taken to the National Neurological Hospital for a brain operation where she also received excellent care. I think it is a great shame that the press only chooses to highlight the failings in the NHS and does not celebrate the great work done by so many hardworking and dedicated staff.
