"Falls Service - lack of knowledge by staff"

About: Drumchapel Hospital

(as a relative),

My father in law attended Drumchapel Day Hospital for problems associated with his walking and balance. Inspite of him actually falling in reception - in pront of staff - he wasn't referred to the Falls Prevention team! Referral criteria for this service are clear..

1. Lives in own home

2. Has had a fall within last year (let alone last few minutes)

3. Want to be referred (not even asked)

Falls are very common and can cause severe injury and death. Falls prevention is very effective. It is a shame the correct referral process was not followed.

Dear Ross Hall

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback.

In the first instance we would be grateful if you could contact our complaints team (complaints@ggc.scot.nhs.uk) who will be able to assist with your various concerns.

Once again thank you for using the Patient Opinion feedback system, it is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
