The food is absolutely awful, not even fit for pigs. and you often run out of basics like mash potatoe. Your steamed fish is like leather instead of the beautiful nutrucious food it should be. The menus are confusing for recently operated on patients and the elderly. Nutrition is so important for post operative patient but you would be better served sending out for a take away than eating your food. I overheard one brave nurse challenging the 'head of kitchen' on the quality of the food and the nurse was slapped down and told never to speak to the 'head of kitchen' again. A post operative lady down the ward from me is now diabetic as a result of the surgery and has no idea how to manage her condition. She has not been seen by a diet expert nor a diabetes doctor which I think is totally negligent of her consultant team. The next thing to happen to her will be discharge from hospital as I expect you will need the bed for some other unfortunate patient. I was an inpatient in Barnet Hospital last year and their catering service was amazing. You were given the menu the evening before and selected your dishes for each meal and although I was there for more than two weeks I always reveived my chosen meals and the food was of 3 star quality. I know all NHS hospitals have a daily allowance for each patient but you don't appear to manage it as well as Barnet. I have dicktated this message to a friend as I feel so strongly about this. I wish your reply to be seen by all visitors to the site so they know what to expect from your hospital.
