I just spent a day on ward 200 for an iron infusion. I injured my foot badly a few days before and had other medical conditions that complicated things. From the minute I arrived, limping, in awful pain and nervous, the staff were fantastic. Reception put me at my ease with a smile. A member of staff said they were putting me on a bed so I could get my badly swollen and bruised foot raised, a nurse made sure my medical information was discussed with me and how this would be managed, another nurse looked after me patiently and gave me confidence, taking time to 'find' a vein to give me the least discomfort, and another member of staff smiled and chatted as she carried out other duties. The lady who was making the ward clean and tidy chatted to me happily and offered help and I was brought tea, food and biscuits by staff I can't name, all friendly. These staff were professional throughout whilst I observed them checking on everyone whilst tending to patients and cleaning chairs and beds as they went. They never stopped. I came out of there confident in the care I received, with knowledge about what would happen next. I never expected such a comfortable visit, I felt scared and worried and the amazing staff got me through it with such a caring and professional attitude. I would not worry if I have to go again. Thank you
