"Excellence and empathy"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

I came into the day surgery department on Tuesday 13th May for a gastroscopy under general anaesthetic. This procedure was performed by the consultant and his team. I suffer from severe anxiety, and during my time in the department, I was treated with the utmost respect and understanding of my condition by all members of staff who could not do enough to help me overcome my fears. After the procedure was completed I was given excellent care by the male nurse who remained at my side until he was assured by me that I was comfortable. I even got a delicious sandwich to eat before I was discharged. Thank you to all involved in my care that day.
