"Communication"

About: Royal United Hospital

Waited patiently for over three hours with 13 year old who had hurt himself. Nurse eventually arrived after quite some time and said 'Oh, I thought someone had taken you to x-ray'. Following the x-ray the same nurse failed to inform me that the x-ray had shown no damage. I had to ask when I saw her administering a band aid plaster to the wound. Totally unsatisfactory. Communication with parents is crucial.

I’m sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your recent visit to the Emergency Department (A&E) with your 13-year-old here at the RUH. Your comments about your experience at the RUH are important to us, as they will help us to identify problems and improve the quality of our service and care. We’d be grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01225 825656 or via email at ruh-tr.PatientAdviceandLiaisonService@nhs.net so that we can look into this further.
