"Attitude and manner towards patients"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital / Ophthalmology Scunthorpe General Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My young son has been an outpatient at the eye clinic now for 3 years. He has been seen by one ophthalmologist who is vibrant and has a wonderful way with patients. She is able to get the best from him and explains fully what she finds in a manner that is non patronising yet clear. Unfortunately we have been seen by a different ophthalmologist on 3 occasions (one today) and have been extremely disappointed with the manner in which they conducted theyself. On the 2 occasions I met them I was so upset in the way they treated my little boy; they were demeaning and demanding in their approach to tests implying he wasn't concentrating to their abrasive instructions. On the one occasion my husband saw this ophthalmologist he made the simple observation they were rude and unable to communicate with small children. I am so frustrated that this has happened when we had such a positive experience with the other ophthalmologist. I didn't have the forethought to say how great she was before complaining about the inability of her colleague
