"Nephrostomy insertion"

About: University College Hospital

I came in to UCH on 25/4/14 and had a nephrostomy tube fitted into my left kidney. The medical staff in imaging were very good and the uro-radiologist explained things very well. The ward was kept clean and the nursing staff were attentive and made sure my nephrostomy and urostomy bags were emptied etc. They even got someone from the stoma/diversion team to come and see if I needed help with my urostomy which was good service since that is not what I was in there to receive treatment for on this occasion. The consultant I saw after my procedure, and who will operate on me in June was, as ever, brilliant and explained the next steps to me. Having experienced the worst hospital treatment I have encountered (and I have encountered a lot of hospitals!) in 35 years earlier this year (Derriford,Plymouth) it was nice to have a positive experience. I do not normally review hospitals online but felt with all the criticism of the NHS in recent times, I felt that it was important to highlight the positive on this occasion.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We're so pleased you were happy with the care and attention you received from all our staff, in particular the imaging, uro-radiology and nursing teams, and will feed this back.
