"Personal Opinion."

Dear Sir, My wife recently underwent major invasive lung surgery at Broad green hospital and I wish my opinion of the care and attention she received from "all" members of the Cedar Ward team to go on record. The standard of care at Broad green in general is second to none but I believe the members of the Cedar ward team of surgeons deserve special praise for their professionalism and dedication to their patients. My wife was treated with sympathy and dignity and every effort was made to help her through her postoperative distress nothing was too much trouble. Within two weeks, due to high levels of pain from nerve damage, my wife had to go back to Broad green for assessment; she was seen within minutes of her arrival and once again the conduct and professionalism of the Cedar ward staff was exemplary. Working in such a professional team it must be hard to shine but one specialist nurse did, her empathy and genuine marked her out as someone special. The day after my wife,s second discharge she phoned me out of personal concern to ask how she was coping and to assure me that if I had any concerns I could call the ward for advice. I consider myself fortunate to have a facility like Broad green on my doorstep, I also consider myself fortunate to have a health service of such general excellence available to me free at the point of need. I do however wish to comment that although we say "free at the point of need"we, the public have actually paid into the supporting financial system all our lives. It is our misfortune to now have, in my opinion, a political hierarchy so morally bankrupt that they would like us to pay again. The piece meal privatisation by stealth "must" be stopped, how can we consider putting our national health service into profit driven private hands; it would be tantamount to handing the keys of the temple over to the money lenders?
