On April 04, I went to the A&E around 16pm. I had a letter from my GP saying I had an acute infection and needed intravenous antibiotics. It took me a long time to see the nurse from the first time who told me she was screening me to check if I really needed a doctor. What? I had a letter from the GP and I was shivering with fever. She “agreed” I needed a doctor and sent me back to wait. After 2 hours, they took my blood and sent me back to wait. My husband went to the reception several times to tell I needed antibiotics, that the fever was getting higher and my condition was getting worse and worse. Still, no one would come to see me or give me the antibiotics I needed. After 5.5 hours wait, I was taken to a chest x-ray, not sure why. Still, no antibiotics! After 8 hours, I was finally medicated. I went to a room and stayed for the night with intravenous antibiotics. The so called nurses were awful – very rude to patients and not helpful at all. To make matters worse, I could hardly understand their English. There was a very old lady by my side who was constantly asking for water, and the “nurse” would come to bring water very unwillingly. Also, the “nurse” did not think that after so much water, she needed the toilet…result, the poor woman peed on herself. This nurse would also open and close those curtains nonstop and I could not sleep as she was so loud and did not allow me to have my curtains closed. It was a really dreadful experience and I will never go back to West Middlesex hospital again. PS: My CRP was almost 500.
