"My two day visit"

About: Southampton General Hospital

I spent two nights at your hospital where I was having diagnostic assessment. My overall stay was pleasing. Admission was a little lacking, perhaps due to staffing (lighting, bed operation and call bell were not identified). However I found the staff very pleasant and helpful. I was pleased with my care, especially the input from the doctors. I must say though That one morning there were two sisters on duty. I saw the one identified a patient needing individual attention which she took time out to do. Almost at the same time another patient traumatised by the prospect of her diagnosis was crying uncontrollable and the other sister took much time out with her and got necessary support for the situation. Yes, the phone was ringing +++++ but these two nurses were giving care to these patients. I admire them for this and although I said nothing to them, it was care from hearts of compassion. Feel proud for these nurses.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is fantastic to know that you recognised the work these individual nurses embraced on that day and that you felt it appropraite despite all the 'day to day' business that was going on around them. Your comments will be shared with the matron for that area to share with the wider team.
