"Daycare centre 6/5/14"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Excellent service from walking in. Had a bone attached hearing aid fitted on Tuesday 6th May 20014. My nurse was fantastic very helpfully in every way. Dr and anethatist were very caring and took time to put you at ease. Was lucky to be the first on the list so went down at 8.30am. Operation would take around 1 hour. Woke up at 11ish, I think the nurse looking after me in the recovery was a learner but she did a wonderful job, anything I wanted she did she gave me sips of water wrapped me up when I was cold and constantly monitored me. By 12.00 was back in my room drinking coffee and eating toast. Got dressed and sat in the waiting area in a comfy chair waiting for my husband to collect me by 1.00pm. Left with painkillers and a big bandage round my head . I expected pain from the operation had no pain at all. When I got home I did sleep for a few hours and for the next few days I just felt like sitting about but not ill. The only problem I had was the bandage kept slipping off on the 3rd day it came off and took the protective cap with it. I went back to ENT and the surgeon fitted a new one in no time and because it had healed so well didn't need to wear the bandage any more. If anyone is worrying about going into the daycare ward to have a Operation don't be the staff are fantastic. If you are having a BAHA fitted don't worry it was so much better than I had imagined and haven't had any pain at all. You can't wash your hair for a while but buy a can of dry shampoo your hair will look and feel amazing you won't notice you haven't washed it. Linda aged 58
