My partner has had several gynaecology appointments cancelled without either being informed or being informed without reason. Initial appointment was set for November of last year, its now May and has been told after arriving for a appointment last week that the appointment never existed and to come back today (8th May), once again no appointment ever existed, even after phoning in the morning to confirm and being told it was going ahead. Similar events have happened two times previously despite GP getting involved. A total of 4 appointments have been either cancelled or to never have existed, despite having it in writing with dates and times. She's now had to go to A&E multiple times after being in excruciating pain, which if original appointments had been kept, wouldn't have been necessary. On one occasion she was admitted onto a ward- whilst the majority of staff were helpful, there were two in particular (Young Adults wing of Childrens Ward) that were quite frankly awful. Rude, unprofessional and gossiping to colleague's and even those over the phone about my partners medical and mental history, that wasn't irrelevant to her current condition. The end of that visit resulted in leaving without half her medication 'due to the pharmacy being closed'- excuse me? On a Saturday afternoon, a hospital pharmacy is closed and no other stock of certain meds existed within the hospital... The following occasion she was discharged prematurely, which meant her travelling to Dorchester hospital for further treatment. What do you have to do to get an appointment with a consultant? I fully understand its a busy environment and the majority of staff do their best, but this has happened multiple times now, its outrageous.
"Communication and organisation is appalling"
