"I chose to be under the care of ..."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I chose to be under the care of maternity serices at DVH as an out of area patient. I am a diabetic under DVH and due the excellent care I recieve at the diabetes centre I was keen for this continuity to continue. The Diabetes care during my pregnancy was outstanding, supportive and flexible. The care on the post natal ward and during my c-section was again fantastic, I was given support, dignity and allowed to carry on my diabetic regime.

What could be improved

The post natal services were busy, often long waiting times to be seen. Midwives were often distracted and I did not see the same person twice making building a rapport difficult. I felt that I had to be overly demanding to get listened to and found the whole experience stressful.

Anything else?

Diabetes care and post-natal care- outstanding

Anti-natal care - Not as I had hoped, stressful

Thank you for your positive comments. We apologies for any inconvenience the delay in clinic caused you and we do endeavour to alert patients of any possible delays via a notice board. Unfortunately sometimes clinics do overrun for a number of reasons, but we will make every effort to ensure that patients are kept advised of any delays in future.
