"A&E ward 24 scbu and maternity"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

My son was born at 28weeks, I was in for the week previous and even though I was still contracting they sent me home for me to come back later that day. My partner was not kept informed at all for over 3 hours about me or our son while I was sent for an emergency c-section. I was then sent to the ward were there was new mums with there healthy babies and when I was asked to be moved to a separate room as it was mentally upsetting for me as I didn't have my baby I got told 'just because my baby is in scbu and not with me it doesn't mean I get special treatment' even tho I had said I would pay for the private rooms. I didn't get the proper check I got with my first to make sure my wound was ok and no excersise given. Scbu staff were amazing and there to answer any questions when we wanted. I do feel tho that there was no counciling support or help with at home treatment for breast pumps ect. My son is now still in and out of hospital for various things connected with his early birth. We were getting looked apon as over reacting parents and nothing wrong with our son for months until me and my partner went in the last time and had enough so ended up having an argument with the senior doctor for them to finally listen and take action. When ever we do go in we never are just dealing with 1 doctor and nurse it's various different doctors each time they come to assess so we are having to go over the situation time and time again and even though the doctors state they are in discussion together they all come up with different sinarios and treatments so makes you feel you don't really know what is happening. Even when we have his paediatric appointments i think we have only ever seen his paediatrition once, each other time it's been different doctors each time that do not know my son. The wards are generally dusty, floors unclean, people's rubbish left around and even on ward 24 my son has brought me someone's old chewing gum from a chair arm. Overall I am not happy with the hospital.
