"The friendliness and attention ..."

About: Lister Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The friendliness and attention paid by staff. I was made to feel welcome and provided with accommodation that I could not really fault. It was my first ever stay in hospital and left me with a very good impression of the people working there in particular. Full marks to the surgeon and her team for keeping me informed and comfortable throughout.

What could be improved

Could have used a little help opening some of the pre-packs that came with the food in view of the use of only one arm at the time!

Anything else?

I would recommend ear plugs as there is always something going on 24 hours a day, but a better restorative than many of my hotel stays. A rewarding insight into the dedication of so many of the people at the NHS and a glimpse of the fortitude of so many patients with much longer term needs than my own. Well done!

Thank you so much for your kind words about our staff. If you would be willing to send an e-mail (generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net) and let us know which ward you were on, we would happily pass on your comments to the team.

You're right that that hospital wards are often very busy places, even in the small hours of the night. Despite these challenges, we do our best to keep the environment as clam and quiet as possible.

For example we do try to encourage our patients to limit the number of their visitors to a reasonable level and frequency, as well as introducing protected meal times when patients can eat their food free from interruptions - including from our own staff! It should also allow patients to ask for help should they need it when eating their meals.
