"Poor care"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / General medicine

(as a friend),

Visited a family friend - who is under 40 - and has just been diagnosed with cancer.

Truly shocked by lack of:

1, Basic dignity - the patient's gown was so ill-fitting there were exposed and kept trying to cover themselves despite being in great discomfort

2. Basic care - they needed toileting and for the hour that I was there a proper nurse did not answer the call button despite repeated requests to help the patient

3. Pain relief - surely in this day and age every patient should be pain free and monitored closely - or sedated - to avoid them being overly nauseous.
