"A&E"

About: Barnet Hospital

This hospital were amazing, I suffered a miscarriage and the circumstances were difficult. I couldn't contact my partner so I was very distressed. As soon as I arrived I was sat down, had my blood pressure taken then asked to give a urine sample. As soon as I returned from the loo they took me and sat me down, offered me a cup of tea and a sandwich. I had a long wait but I was comfortable and kept informed. The worst part was being taken to a maternity ward and having to sit in a birthing room alone waiting for a consultant and a nurse to be free at the same time as the consultant was a man and couldn't see me alone. This was probably the worse place I could of been kept waiting as I just kept thinking oh I should of been here in 5 months time. That said the staff were all very comforting and one of the doctors held my hand and hugged me making me feel a little comforted. In general the staff were amazing and the tea and sandwich were actually very good and that they actually walk around in A&E throughout the day to make sure people are given something to eat is a lovely touch.

Thank you for taking the time to write and share your positive experience regarding our A&E service. I hope to assure you that such feedback is very much appreciated and we will ensure that it circulated to the team involved and to our senior management and Directors. I am sorry that you had to wait in the maternity ward and for the upset caused. This feedback will also be passed to the team. Thank you again for writing to us. Kind regards The PALS Team
