"No care from a&e department"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

On Monday 21st of April my mother came to the hospital to see the out of hours gp (on advice from doctor on 111 number) with pains in her stomach. I went in the room with her and after examining my mother she said it she may have perforated her bowel and wrote us a letter and sent us to the a&e department for further investigation.we were seen almost straight away by the triage nurse who took the letter from us and read it then took bloods ,blood pressure and temp. We then waited in a &e waiting room until approx 12.30 am and were then called into a room by a doctor. My mam explained about the pains in her stomach and mentioned about what the out of hours gp had said and he didn,t even know she had already seen the gp( so had not seen the letter we had been given). He asked her on a scale of 1 ton10 how bad the pain was and she said 10 so he said he would get her some pain killers and left the room. 5 mins later a young girl came and gave my mam two tablets and said she would come back in 10 mins. She returned about 20 mins later and asked if it had eased the pain any to which my mam replied slightly. She then said she would go and see the doc and came back 2 mins later and said she could go home. No doctor came back, no one said what it was or could have been. My mother died in the house at 4.30(22april) in front of me and my brother with acute bowel ischemia and although I don't know if this could have been prevented i am so angry at the way my mam was treated that no investigation was done into her pain., nothing and just wanted to let you know that the care received from a & e was absolutely shocking.
