"Excellent maternity services"

About: Watford General Hospital

I recently had my first baby at Watford General. I had to move hospitals twice during my pregnancy and found Watofrd to be by far the best out of the three. The other 2 being St Thomas' and UCLH. The midwives are brilliant, they keep you informed of everything and provide everything you need. They really do go out of their way, The Dr that delivered my baby was brilliant and made all the right decisions depiste the department being under staffed and clearly busy on what was a bank holiday. The Dr is the kind of professional you want when going through a difficult time like childbirth, I have no complaints whatsoever, from triage to the delivery ward to the after care. A great department run by people thast genuinely care.

Thank you for taking the time to let us have feedback about the care you received from our maternity unit at Watford Hospital and for giving us a five star rating. I would like to start by congratulating you on the birth of your son/daughter. I was very pleased to read your comments about our team and I have passed them on to the department. I know they will be very pleased. I was sorry to read your comment about the unit being understaffed. I know we have recruited a significant amount of new midwives over the last few months so I am surprised about your comment. As a Trust, we review staffing numbers, including nurses, midwives and doctors, on a daily basis and the actual numbers of nurses and midwives is posted at the entrance to our wards (to show how many should be on duty and how many are). I would be more than happy to ask our Head of Midwifery to confirm the staffing numbers for the day in question if that would help? Please drop me a line if you would like me to do that. Thank you again for taking the time to review our maternity services and for your positive feedback. It is really appreciated. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to.
