My mum has been in this ward for 4 weeks she has terminal lung cancer. I have been shouted at by a carer and by a nurse for enquiring why my mum had a huge bruise on the back of her head and skin all torn down her arm. I was shouted down and treated with sarcasm and disdain as I tried to find out what had happened and in the end I had to walk out and go home in tears, thus missing my visit. I wasn't being off or rude I just wanted to know! My mum was left alone in the toilet - apparently this is not classed as "alone" as nurses were milling about in the hallway?! there was a closed door between them and my extremely frail weak mother so I consider this alone! Also when i arrived on the ward I found her bed covered in blood and her chair - this had just been left. When i asked a carer if I could change my mum's bed she stormed off to do it and used a wet wipe over mum's chair. It is impossible to get to see a doctor. Relatives are treated like an inconvenience. The ward sisters and head nurses were lovely but very overstretched. I have had no conversations with doctors - only the nurses took time to help. Horrible horrible place.
