I would just like to say a huge thank you to the many midwives and student midwives I saw over my nearly 5 day labour. I needed intervention in the end and I couldn't thank the midvived enough for their sterness (much needed when you want to give up,) their kindness, compassion and understanding. Labour can be quite undignified but due to the high standard of care I received I felt well looked after. Secondly I want to give the biggest thank you to a health care assistant who spotted my sons tongue tie. We were having trouble feeding overnight and were both very tired and my son very unsettled and obviously hungry. I was only able to express and feed him as he couldn't latch on. The healthcare assistant came in to help him latch and spotted his tongue tie instantly. She helped me express for him while arranging for the tongue tie to snipped. He was only a few hours old when it was performed and the change in him was instant. I really want to give my sincere thanks to that HCA who not only helped me when I was anxious, but also arranged for the tounge tie to be clipped so quickly and helped me express in the meantime. I have heard horrendous stories of women being made to go on waiting lists to correct tongue tie in their babies but ours was dealt with at only a few hours old. Tongue tie isn't mentioned in any pregnancy classes or well known about, which is wrong. It's a common condition that can affect 1 in 5 babies, some not being able to latch at all. The fact our was dealt with in such a quick manner really saved our breastfeeding relationship and we are still feeding almost two years later. So thank you so much!
