"Appauling - left a swab inside me"

I had some granulation tissue excised which occurred after tearing after the birth of my baby. The gynecologist left a cotton wool swab, about 5cm square, inside me. I did not find it until 5 weeks after the procedure by which time it had become infected with mold and bacteria. Disgusting. I am applaud no swab count is done and this mistake was made.

We have spoken with the lady concerned on the telephone and have expressed our deepest regrets. We apologised to her for her experience and have commenced a thorough investigation. We will continue to work closely with the complainant.
