"Excellent, caring, professional and open service"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I have received treatment in the fetal medicine unit for many months now at the RVI. From the very first scan every member of staff I have dealt with has been so genuinely caring and empathetic to our situation. We were never made to feel like a burden, we could ask as many questions as we liked and they spent as much time with us as we needed. We were not rushed out or fobbed off. The follow-up care has been exceptional, with the trust even asking us if we would be willing to help them improve experiences for others by giving them insight into our time there. When things don't go smoothly with a pregnancy you are filled with fear and depression, which the staff at the RVI removed as best they could through providing us with information, support and a kind yet candid attitude to what was likely to happen. They were also massively supportive to my husband, who really felt the shock of bad news as much as I did as the mother of the baby. If any woman was ever to have the dark times that we experienced in pregnancy I would hope that she was lucky enough to find herself being cared for at the RVI. The worst times in life have been made bearable through the efforts of all staff from HCAs to Consultants. My sisters have all said they will be opting for the RVI for any future pregnancies they have based upon my treatment. You could not put a price on the value of the treatment we have received. it was human, caring, and well above the normal requirements, I cannot praise the RVI enough.
