About: Royal Preston Hospital

My mother-in -law has cancer of the bladder. She is having a full bladder removal and hysterectomy, the cancer is spreading. On 2nd April 2014 we took her in at 7.30am for her operation at 1.00pm they telephoned us to tell us there were no beds available and we had to go and pick her up and take her home..she was obviously very upset as were we. The operation was then re-booked for 16th April 2014, once again we took her at 7.30am..and once again at 11.00am we got a phonecall to say there were no beds available. As far as we are concerned the hospital would have known about the bed situation on the morning of both operations and yet did not have the courtesy to pre warn there may be no beds available. This is my only experience with Royal Preston Hospital so as you can imagine we are pretty furious about this situation. The operation has now been booked again for tomorrow 23rd April 2014..i am hoping this will not happen again for a third time!
