"Sent home"

About: Warrington Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother was taken into Warrington Hospital a few weeks ago with chest pains. Warrington hospital were completely useless. My mother previously has had a brain tumour - which she had operated on in Liverpool and then had radio theropy which damaged her pituitary gland. Since that time she has been on medication for it. From time to time these are checked and increased as her gland breaks down more and more. This can cause some strange side effects, the staff at Warrington have no specialists in this area unlike Whiston who have a FAR superior level of care. They did not want to know, it was as if they wanted to sweep it under the carpet as it was too much hassle to actually deal with an unfamiliar situation. She didn't even get to see a proper doctor only a junior doctor, which I find to be ridiculous - how can a junior doctor deal with a patient up to standard with such a unusual background.

She was discharged, so she went to the local GP - who was far more helpful. He had a appointment set up where she did have her medication increased as needed.

The doctor also sent her for further tests, not convinced that the increase in her medication was the only thing she needed.

She was called in today by the doctor - who has found that she has gallstones, and may need them operating on asap. How did Warrington Hospital miss them? Well I can tell you - they didn't do proper tests, no doctor came and she was just sent home.

It is very worrying that she was sent home. I am posting this in the hope that it will improve services at Warrington.

I cannot praise Whiston Hopspital enough - when my mum has been there before she has had wonderful treatment. They deal with the problem and even if they can't they will refer you to someone who does.

Thank you for your comments and we are sorry that you did not have the best experience at our hospital. We pride ourselves on providing a high quality of service across all of our wards and departments and are disappointed that you did not find this in your mother’s case.

In order for us to look into this in more detail we would be grateful if you could contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison) team who can look into your mother’s care in more detail with the relevant information. Our PALS team can be contacted on 01925 275512 and would be pleased to discuss these issues with you.
