"Missed the obvious"

About: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital

This review is later than i would have liked but after writing a letter of complaint and recieving no response I feel that i should try again. In september 2013 I was hit by a taxi that then ran over my foot. I was taken by ambulance to the chelsea and westminister hospital. When I arrived as I was not critical I was taken to the waiting area. I was it agonising pain and told that pain killers would be provided shortly - I waited 30 mins to see the nurse - then had to wait another 1.30 hours for any pain relief. I was clearly in alot of pain and when my partner (who had by then arrived) enquired he was told there was a deley in despence. This I could cope with but when my drugs did arrive the man joke 'oh you thought we'd forgotten you,' totally inappropriate. After this I then had to wait another hour to be taken to see a doctor. As soon as I was wheeled in my doctor was called away (I understand they need to go to emergencies) but i was simple wheeled out and left in the corridor. I then lost my place in the que and watche3d other people get seen before me. I managed to catch a roaming doctor in the corridor who saud, 'we need to wait for your xrays' when I explained I hadn't had any he lookeed shocked and fast tracked me. Despite having extensive xrays it was decided I had no fractures. I was told I should rest it and it would all be fine. Was then shoved a pair of crutches and expected to make my own way out. I was still clearly shaked from being hit by a car and was bruised all over I was so shakey I almost fell over and had to be rushed a wheelchair. Following this I was booked a return appointement for a week later. When I returned they looked at my foot again. talked about how fractures are hard to see on xrays and they usually domscans aswell but they never did one. Told me I should build up the musles by adding pressure and sent me on my way. As my foot continued to not get better I sort a second opinion. It turns out my foot had multiple fractures. The pressure I had been putting on it had the potiential to cause more damage. Overall I feel my treatment at Chelsea and Westminster was well below standard.
