I am absolutely furious. I was diagnosed with gallstones in August 2013, but since I was pregnant, there was nothing they could do (although my GP and two second opinions assured me the procedure required was safe in the second trimester). They told me they would book me an appointment for March 14th, which was then not only cancelled, but they denied they'd ever made it, despite me having a letter which confirmed. I was then admitted into this god awful place, as I'd suffered 3 severe attacks, and the 3rd just hadn't shifted. I was in horrendous amounts of pain and all they could offer me was paracetamol. This was on Wednesday last week. I was then 'promised' that they'd try and get me down to surgery, I was then fobbed off for 3 days and left in agony, as nobody seemed capable of communication with one another as to what my treatment was. My pain killers got changed every time there was a new shift, leaving me vomitting and unable to eat, and yet I still had not been given any type of fluids. I am on ward 1, and whilst some staff couldn't do enough for you, others are absolutely horrendous and completely rude. They refused to listen to me, and forced me to take a painkiller because although I'd asked for something different, they'd gotten the wrong thing and 'didn't want to waste it'. I was forced to take oral morphine which made me throw up and remaining liquid I had left. I was then prescribed antibiotics, as my gallbladder had now become infected, something they would have known days ago if they'd requested a urine sample and done the correct blood tests. They refused to listen when I told them the IV antibiotics were hurting my arm, blaming it on being a strong drug. They did look quite taken aback when an hour later my arm was red, inflamed and burning to touch. The drugs had irritated my vein so much that it burned it, I have pictures of this. I thought that would be the end of those drugs, but failure to communicate about my treatment happened yet again when the night staff put it back up, depspite me showing them my still very red arm. So after a few hours i was in pain again, and they did eventually take them down. Funny thing is, this damage to my veins was totally unecassary, as if they'd bother to have checked my latest bloods, they would have found that the oral drugs had actually cleared up the infection. My doctor told me this, but failed to tell the nurse, so yet again I was left explaining my own treatment. Aren't these people supposed to be here to look after me? Not me trying to stop them from bloody making me worse? All this was going on, whilst I have a beautiful baby boy at home, whom I'm missing terribly. I was promised surgery on the Monday or Tuesday. Got myself ready, and they then found a stone was now blocking my bile duct, yet again, their lack of ability to get things done has let my condition worsen. You can bet I will be taking this further.
