"When my sister had her emergency ..."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

(as a relative),

What I liked

When my sister had her emergency operation, the nurses were helpful and gave me information over the phone once they checked with my sister that that's ok. My sister said that the nurses were looking after her well.

What could be improved

There should be at least one portable phone on the ward (nursing bay) so that patients could use too.

I was told that I can't call my sister's mobile phone because it apparently interferes with machines etc. I work at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Trauma ward - right next to the Critical Care Unit and ICU with people on life support machines (!) and mobile phones are allowed there!! The ridiculous phones that charge £0.50 per minute are just a rip off. Just like the parking charges! I can't comment on the cleanliness and infection control side, but in overall this hospital has got quite a bad reputation when it comes to that, so I am just hoping that my sister will be spared of a hospital acquired infection.
