"A&E"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

After ringing 111 for advice, I was taken to A&E via ambulance y'day pm with violent head pain & vomiting. I had been diagnosed with middle ear inf at my GP's on Friday. However, head pain had increased and antibiotics making me itch all over. Had bloods taken and given I/V tramadol by nurse, who told me she would return in 5 mins to see how pain was. An hour later....no return by nurse and Im still in major pain. No means of seeking help so had to ring A&E reception from my fone. Could here staff laughing about me doing this and that I'd had pain relief.....yes .....but hadnt worked. Another half hr later, rang my daughter to seek her help. She rang reception. Could hear nurse complaining that she had given me painrelief. Eventually doctor came in.....didnt listen and said headache could last 4 days. Already had it for 5 days. Told to go home & take paracetamol but nurse would remove canular first. No nurse arrived.....had to remove my own canular. Continued to be sick with violent headaches all night! ..... Even worse was a lady being admitted post surgery infection fot breast cancer. A nurse was asked to see to this lady.....to which the nurse replied....no sorry....I cant as not comfortable with her as she slept with my boyfriend. Then had to endure details of nurses ruined love life!! Well Im sorry but where is the professionalism in all of this and consideration for patient who has cancer

We're very sorry that this was your experience in our accident and emergency department. We would very much like the opportunity to look into this further. Please contact patientexperience@nth.nhs.uk so we can do this.
