"Excellent care by SAU"

I visited A&E on 4th March about 11pm. The waiting area was clean and tidy also seeing the triage nurse and the CSW for bloods was very quick. But I then sat in the waiting room for ages before being sent to SAU, although I was impressed that a tea trolley came round. When I got to SAU about 4.20am I was really worried that I'd looked stupid being back there, as this was my second visit within a week. I was reassured by the staff that I didn't need to worry about that. As soon as the morning staff came on I was greeted in a friendly manor by some of the staff who looked after me during that week. One of the nurses then did a bladder scan and drained my bladder as it was starting to get very painful, she then chased up urology to see me. I would also like to praise the other two helpful staff that came round to see me and I believe she was a urology nurse specialist. Between her and the lovely nurse on the ward, they arranged an ambulance transfer to UCH London, in which I got my problem sorted. These staff are a credit to the hospital! and I really hate it when I see Medway hospital getting bad press as I believe it reflex on the hospital as a whole. When clearly this is not the case. I always recommend Medway's SAU and urology to family and friends now, due to the high levels of patient care. Thank-you

Thank you for providing feedback to us with regards to your recent patient experience in the emergency department and SAU. I apologise for the time you spent in the emergency department whilst waiting to be transferred to the SAU. The SAU accepts emergency patients directly from GPs, the emergency department, as well as surgical clinics. There are occasions when SAU is full to capacity and expected patients to the department wait in the emergency department until capacity is available. I am sorry that on this occasion we was not able to transfer you to SAU sooner.
