"Communication problems"

My mother has vascular dementia. She recently stayed in Ward 2. I felt I had to be there the whole time to monitor the staff. They were told several times she is vegetarian. She had a sign by her bed 'Nil by mouth' yet she was offered a tray of food. A member of my family had to point out the sign. She was offered a cup of tea - ditto. She was told sorry there's no ham sandwiches as she 'ordered' despite being told she's vegetarian. She was asked face to face to do a survey. She couldn't even answer the first question. Her transport home arrived. I had to find a nurse to take out her canula (?) attachment as they were trying to put her in the wheelchair to take her home. I asked the nurse 3 times beforehand to do it and she reassured me she would. She didn't. The ambulance person told me to go home on the bus. I had to object strongly until he got permission from the hospital for me to look after my mother on the way home. I couldn't let her go alone as she is too disabled to go into the house and take care of herself. When we arrived at the house the first man let the ramp down and told me to get out. The second man told my mother she could get up now and leave the ambulance. I had to shout to my mother not to stand up - she would fall down. I told him he would have to open the wheelchair and take her to her house as she can't walk.
