"A&E performance."

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

I had occasion to be concerned about chest pains on Sunday evening March 2nd 2014. These had continued from 1830 until I decided that I should err on the safe side and have them assessed. My wife drove me to the A&E department at approx. 2230. The security personnel were very helpful and arranged parking for us. On entry to the department we were met by two nurses and the moment I mentioned my condition I was taken into a side room for immediate assessment. Thereafter we were attended to by all personnel in a very courteous and efficient manner. All relevant tests were carried out swiftly and we were kept aware of all procedures and results. Finally I was advised that all was well but that I should attend my own GP practice for on-going monitoring of my Blood Pressure which although stable was considered to be marginally high but possibly due to the stress and pain at the time. In these times where our NHS services are under severe pressure and criticism both my wife and I wish to have out sincere thanks given to the whole department for the professional and friendly attention we received. During our waiting periods we were also impressed with the calm approach and empathy shown to other patients especially a very distressed boy of around 4 years old. A big 'Well done'. Thank you
