"Breast reduction surgery at City hospital"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

In 2007, I had my routine mammogram, which was difficult to do due to the size of my breasts - that was the impetus I needed to ask my GP to refer me for a breast reduction procedure. After it was established that I fitted the criteria, the procedure was performed and I then stayed 2 nights on Gillies ward. This was my first experience of the City hospital and I can't recommend it highly enough. The ward was kept very clean; the nurses were lovely and looked after me so well. My operation was quite invasive, as I had over 1.1kg removed from each breast - it can definitely be described as life changing! My aftercare was very good also - in fact, I had to ring up for advice, which was quickly dealt with. I also attended the dressings clinic twice.

All in all, Gillies is an exceptionally well-run ward and I am so pleased with the outcome and my operation. It has helped my back problems and reassured me about my next mammogram.
