All the doctors, consultants and nursing staff involved in my operation for colon cancer took every trouble to explain all the details of every procedure, the options and possible outcomes. This is very re-assuring at a time when one is naturally worried and helps to give one confidence and trust in the whole process. After the surgery the level of care given by the nursing staff of Willoughby ward was superb. It was not just the 'overall' level of care - the really impressive thing was that each and every member of staff maintained the very high levels of patience, kindness and attentiveness - and all done with a smile and a cheery sense of humour. It was also clear that this high standard applied equally to every patient - even the 'difficult' ones. Rebecca Bennett is to be congratulated on leading such a good and consistent team.
