The Pain Service here is rubbish. This is the second Pain consultant that let me down (the last one was so useless that when a group of patients complained he high tailed it. The current one tells me he is 'far to busy' to phone one of my 2 orthopaedic consultants to discuss a way forward. If you have a slightly complex problem [ say spine and shoulder problems] ,there is absolutely no holistic approach to the patient, who just gets referred on like a horror version of pass the parcel. I'm now into my second year of unresolved acute pain Ive been sent to nearly a dozen consultant, who whilst accepting in full I am suffering, take the "not me gov" approach and I wait another 12 week to see the next consultant they send me on for. Having asked for copies of all my notes for the last 3 years, I can see already in the MRI and X-Ray reports there several things the consultants missed. One proactive Day Surgery procedure my orthopaedic surgeon say would probably help, and has the backing of my GP has turned into an argument about which department should do it, and in any case to see any spine surgeon (The historical area where 10+ of problems are located my GP cannot refer direct but I have to wait another 3 months to see a Physiotherapist who will apparently decide from looking at me wether I will be allowed to see a spine surgeon, despite my doctors letters explaining the long term history, and the fact that my hospital notes are over 3 inches thick with everything from MRI and X-rays showing I am badly deformed from a car crash, osteoporosis, and a fall fracture that has healed out of alignment
