"Dislocated Shoulder"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency Princess Alexandra Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

On Monday evening at 6.30 pm, I fell and dislocated my shoulder. I had to call for an ambulance. The Paramedics were great, however, my problem started when I arrived at A&E. Nurses seemed in very short supply. I eventually was seen by a doctor, who said he would be treating me after an x-ray had established the damage. I was then taken into the triage room. My daughter was told she would not be allowed in case she might faint, this was a ridiculous statement to make as she is a Police Officer. At later time, my other daughter arrived and she was also told she could not come into this room and she is a Nurse! I had three doctors in with me, but no nurse.

My daughter thinks they were probably F1 and F2, and were practising on me without any SHO's there. Needless to say, they were not able to reduce the dislocation. Eventually an SHO was called, who then carried out the reduction, I presume, because by this time I was out and when I came around the reduction had been done. Lets hope none of their parents have to go to A&E, and be treated as I was. I'm 65 years old.
