My Husband had a heart transplant in Oct 2011. Our initial visit in Sept had been just that a visit to meet the team and then be assessed every so often until the time came - he was listed straight away. From that first visit we were completely in awe of the team that he was to be under and so grateful that we had been referred there. My husband had been in many London Hospitals as had other members of the family but never had we come across a team (from the volunteers, cleaning crew, dining-room staff to consultants) who were so connected and respectful of each other and their patients. My husband's care was top-class and as i work in a top private hospital in London I feel I can say that with full conviction. Aftercare has continued to be amazing and after 11 years of heart failure we are now starting to regain a normal life. The TCCU team have been invaluable in the last 2 years - every query has been answered very quickly- and even when we felt a bit silly asking the question we have never been made to feel as if we were disturbing. Papworth is an incredibly special place. My husband's recovery has been amazing, he was back at work in 6 months. We will always be indebted.
"Grateful"
