"Total Hip Replacement March 2014"

About: Withybush General Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I am a 61 year old female and live alone. I fell off a ladder whilst cleaning windows and broke my hip.

The ambulance arrived quickly and the paramedics were caring and thoughtful throughout. I was admitted on Wednesday and had my operation on Thursday electing for a spinal anaesthetic. The theatre staff were cheery and friendly and put me at ease making a somewhat difficult experience less daunting.

I was taken to Ward 1 for recovery and the after care was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were extremely kind and considerate to my needs.

The catering staff were very helpful and friendly too and I could not fault the meals. The physiotherapist was professional and confident and helped me back on my feet. During my stay I witnessed how caring the staff were towards the elderly patients. All in all they made my stay very comfortable and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. Special thanks to Mr Jewel (surgeon).
